SENIO is a project to develop a social navigation system for robots. The project aims to develop a system that can enable robots to navigate in social environments, such as public spaces, workplaces, and homes, with the goal of improving the safety, efficiency, and usability of robotic systems in social settings.

SENIO Stands for Social Environment Navigation and Interaction for Robots. The O in SENIO is a reference to the O in CROBOTS, which stands for Open Source.

Motivation

The motivation for the SENIO project is to address the growing need for robots to operate in social environments. As robots become more common in public spaces, workplaces, and homes, it is important to develop systems that can enable robots to navigate safely and effectively in these environments. The SENIO project aims to develop a social navigation system that can enable robots to interact with people and other robots in a safe and efficient manner, with the goal of improving the usability and acceptance of robotic systems in social settings.

Objectives

The objectives of the SENIO project are to develop a social navigation system that can enable robots to:

  • Navigate in social environments
  • Interact with people and other robots
  • Avoid obstacles and hazards
  • Adapt to changing environments
  • Learn from experience

Approach

The approach of the SENIO project is to develop a social navigation system that is based on a combination of sensor data, machine learning, and human-robot interaction. The system will use sensor data to perceive the environment, machine learning to interpret the data and make decisions, and human-robot interaction to communicate with people and other robots.
